Who needs a dozen, or two, different colours to make an applique quilt!

One hint if you choose red as one of the colours … make sure you only bleed on the red fabric!

However, make sure you wash the red fabrics very well before cutting to stop the fabric bleeding.

This will be my last post as the Virtual Quilter here on WordPress. I am looking for a new home for the quilt designs, but have other issues to deal with so will leave a note here when I can find the new home and the other issues are dealt ...

Red and White Applique 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Choose any two colours and these designs would look great, but I think red and white might be the most stunning combination.

I cannot choose a favourite today … I like them both!

Red and White Applique 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

I don’t mind doing applique, but I think I would be tempted to use an embroidery machine to do the applique on this one! Using my machine that would mean the finished blocks would only make a knee rug instead of a king size quilt.

Perhaps my challenge for the year ahead should be to sit down at the embroidery machine and practice making small blocks, then learning to reposition the fabric to do large blocks. (Note that I didn’t say what year ahead.) In the meantime I should practice turning the whole block into an embroidered coaster ...

Red and White Applique 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Red and white together looks stunning, but not something I would like in my bedroom. My favourite design today is the first one.

However, a lot of sporting fans barrack for teams who wear red and white, so there may be a lot of people who would love a red and white quilt on their bed.
